From a student's frustration to a nationwide tool.
Built by a student, for students.
The Spark of an Idea
GCSEMate wasn't born in a boardroom; it was conceived during late-night revision sessions. As a Year 10 student, our founder found himself drowning in a sea of digital chaos. Revision notes were in one app, past papers downloaded into another folder, useful websites were lost in a long list of bookmarks, and collaborating with friends meant endless email chains. He knew there had to be a better way. Armed with a passion for coding and a clear problem to solve, he began building the first version of GCSEMate.
Our Mission: Simplify to Succeed
This journey started with a simple idea: to empower fellow students to cut through the revision clutter and achieve their full potential. We believe that your focus should be on learning, not on fighting with disorganized files. GCSEMate eliminates the friction of traditional study methods by providing a single, intelligent source of truth for all subjects, curated and organized for maximum impact. Every feature is built with the student experience at its core, ensuring GCSEMate is a tool that genuinely helps, not hinders, your path to success.

How do I access my revision files?
To access files, you need a 'Pro' account. Once upgraded, navigate to the 'Subjects' dashboard and click on any subject card. This will open the file browser for that subject, where you can navigate through folders, preview files, and download what you need.
How do I change the accent colour?
Use the colour picker in the top-right of the header (desktop) to pick your accent colour. Your choice is saved on this device. Click Reset to return to the default blue.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Yes! Press ? anywhere to open this Help/FAQ and see the shortcuts. You can also press / to focus the file search, or press g followed by a letter to jump to a section (e.g. d for dashboard, v for videos).
Can I preview files without downloading?
Yes. PDFs and images can be previewed directly in the app. Other file types may open in Google Drive viewer.
How do I report an issue or suggest a feature?
Please email us via the link on the Upgrade page or use the contact option in the footer. We welcome feedback to improve GCSEMate.
What is the 'Star' icon for?
Clicking the star icon next to a file pins it to the top of its current folder. This is a great way to mark important documents like exam papers or key notes for quick access. Starred items are always displayed first in both list and grid views.
How does the Calendar work?
The calendar helps you track important dates. Click on any day to add a personal event, like homework deadlines or revision topics. You can also enable a 'Countdown Banner' for specific events. Admins may add 'Global Events', like exam dates, which appear for all users and are marked with a green dot.
Can I upload my own files?
Currently, file uploading is not a feature for users. The file structure is managed by administrators to ensure all resources are relevant, high-quality, and well-organized for all students. This helps maintain a consistent and reliable revision library.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account by going to the 'Account' page. At the bottom, in the 'Danger Zone', you will find a "Delete My Account" button. Please be aware that this action is irreversible and will permanently delete your user profile and any associated personal data, such as calendar events.
